Where is Jello Shot made and where do the ingredients come from?
Jello Shot is handmade in small batches in Atlanta, Georgia by the Ecoslay team. The okra extract, aloe vera juice and other botanical extracts are sourced through through Ecoslay’s Farm-to-Pouch partnership with Metro Atlanta farms. Ecoslay is a BCorp certiBlack-owned, woman-founded company.

Jello Shot contains: Okra Extract, Aloe Vera Juice, Pectin, Chamomile Flower Extract, Nettle Leaf Extract, Melissa Leaf Extract, Peppermint Leaf Extract, Horsetail Leaf Extract, Yucca Vera Leaf Extract, Strawberry Fruit Essence, Propanediol (corn-derived), Sodium Gluconate (beet-derived), Carbomer 980, and a mild preservative system (Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid). No silicones, no synthetic hold polymers, no parabens. Vegan and cruelty-free.

On Wet Hair:
Apply to soaking wet hair in sections, distributing well. Air dry or diffuse.

On Dry Hair:
Apply Jello Shot to flyaways or frizzies to keep them under control. Jello Shot is also great to keep those edges slayed!

Jello Shot works effectively on dry hair for day-2 and day-3 refreshes. Lightly mist dry hair with water first, apply a very small amount (fingertip-sized) to areas that have lost definition or are frizzing, smooth through and scrunch, then allow to re-dry. Use significantly less product on dry hair than on wet.

How long does Jello Shot hold last?
Many users report defined curls lasting 5–7 days between wash days. Some reviewers with coily and kinky hair report hold of up to two weeks. Results vary by hair type, density, and climate. For best results, apply on soaking wet hair, allow to dry fully before scrunching out the cast, and refresh with a light water mist plus a small amount of additional Jello Shot on days 2–3.

Does Jello Shot make hair crunchy?
No — when used correctly. Jello Shot forms a firm cast as it dries, which can feel stiff while wet. This is normal and a sign the hold is working. Once hair is completely dry, scrunch the cast out gently with your palms (called SOTC, or scrunch out the crunch). The result is soft, bouncy, touchably defined curls with no stiffness. Using too much product or scrunching before hair is fully dry are the most common causes of residual crunchiness.

Yes — Jello Shot has become especially popular in the silver and gray curl community. Gray hair tends to be drier, coarser, and more porous than pigmented hair, which means it benefits from a firmer-hold gel that can manage the texture without synthetic chemicals. What curl types is Jello Shot best for?
Jello Shot works on all curl patterns (2a–4c) but delivers its most impressive results on coily (4a–4b), kinky (4c), and high-density hair that needs maximum hold. Wavy and curly types (2a–3c) should start with a small amount to avoid heaviness, especially if they have fine hair. How much Jello Shot should I use?

Start with a dime-to-quarter-sized amount per section on wet hair. A little goes a long way — most users with medium-length hair use 2–4 pumps for a full application. On dry hair, use even less: a fingertip-sized amount per area being refreshed. Over-application is the most common cause of heaviness or white residue. Start with less than you think you need and add more if required.
